Water leak detection services

An underground water leak can cause a lot of damage to your home and neighbouring properties, because water mains and supply pipes can leak for a long period of time without causing any surface evidence or signs of damage. At Harmuns, our engineers are trained and experienced in finding and fixing these annoying hidden leaks with minimal disturbance to you or your property. We use advanced, non-invasive techniques and state-of-the-art equipment such as acoustic equipment and tracer gas to quickly and accurately pinpoint the source of the leak.

At Harmuns, we have many years of experience in finding and fixing underground leaks that your plumber can’t. We are a rapidly growing company, offering excellent services as well as putting an emphasis on the customer experience.

How to tell if you have a water leak underground

Annoyingly, underground water leaks are notoriously difficult to even realise you have, let alone locate. They can exist for a long time without detection, and are often only realised after receiving an expensive water bill or experiencing a dramatic reduction in water pressure.

Our experts are able to detect and locate a hidden underground leak for you. However, how do you even know to get in contact with us? Here are a few things to look out for:

  • Increase in water usage and costs
  • Cracks in the floor or bulges on pavements
  • Unpleasant smells
  • Low water pressure
  • Dirty water coming out of taps
  • Sounds from pipes

If you are experiencing any of these issues, it’s best to get in contact with an experienced leak detection company to find and fix the problem for you.

What is underground water leak detection?

Underground water leak detection is the process of identifying and locating leaks that are hidden underneath your property and the surrounding area. Any underground water leaks must be detected and fixed in order to protect the structure of your property from erosion and other damage. At Harmuns, our underground water leak detection services involve using non-invasive techniques and advanced technologies to pinpoint the source of the leak, without digging up the floors or causing disruption to the property.

We know that every job is different. This is why our underground water leak detection engineers use their decades of experience to choose the appropriate equipment and techniques to address the issue in the most efficient way. Often using a combination of acoustic equipment, thermal imaging and moisture meters, our engineers are able to locate and fix the problem.

We are able to offer our underground water leak detection services to properties in both the residential and commercial sectors. We recognise that each setting presents its own challenges, and our experienced professionals are equipped to handle diverse scenarios.

Water leak detection equipment

At Harmuns, we strive to only use the best underground water detection equipment available. This state-of-the-art equipment is fundamental to our water leak detection services, making sure that we remain accurate and efficient.

Our engineers are well-prepared to tackle most jobs, with sophisticated tools, each designed to help us detect these hidden leaks. This equipment we use includes thermal imaging cameras, acoustic sensors, moisture meters, hygrometers, pipe locators, and endoscope cameras.

Thermal imaging camera

Thermal imaging cameras

Thermal imaging cameras are a popular method of identifying and detecting leaks in underground pipes. They are able to detect subtle changes in temperature that are caused by the presence of water. The images they capture make it easier to locate the leak and assess the extent of it,

Moisture meters and hygrometers

Moisture meterss measure the moisture content of floors and walls to help engineers to identify where water may be escaping and assess the severity. Hygrometers complement this by measuring humidity levels, providing additional insights into potential water-related concerns.

Acoustic sensors

Acoustic sensors are an advanced technology that detect soundwaves that occur as the result of water escaping from the pipe. This makes it much quicker and easier to pinpoint the exact location of the leak, allowing for a faster and more efficient repair.

Pipe locators

Pipe locators are really handy pieces of kit, allowing engineers to trace the path of underground pipework without having to excavate and cause issues.

Water leak detection systems

At Harmuns, we understand the importance of using topnotch water detection systems in maintaining the structure of your property.

Commercial leak detection

Cutting-edge technology

Our underground water leak detection systems are equipped with cutting-edge technology that goes beyond conventional methods. These systems use advanced sensors, acoustic devices, thermal imaging, and tracer gases to detect even the most hidden leaks. The integration of these technologies allows for a comprehensive and swift identification of leaks, reducing the risk of damage to your property.

Non-invasive precision

Our water leak systems pride themselves on being non-invasive, ensuring that the structure of the property remains undisturbed. The precision of these systems lies in their ability to identify leaks without causing unnecessary damage, providing you with peace of mind while we protect your space.

Here are some common questions that pop up about underground water leak detection

Common signs of an underground water leak include unexplained and dramatic increases in water bills, musty odours, the growth of mould or mildew,  and the sound of running water when no taps are in use.

Our team of experts use a range of different methods to detect your underground water leak such as acoustic leak detection, thermal imaging, and moisture metres to pinpoint the location of underground water leaks and determine their severity.

Once our engineers have located the source of the leak, it will be fixed by careful excavating to expose the damaged pipe and evaluating the extent of the damage. Depending on how bad it is, pipes will be repaired through pipe patching, sealing or replacing the pipe altogether. The repair will be tested to ensure it is leak resistant, before the site is restored to its original state.
